[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
The story of Keith Fulton is one of meteoric proportions, cut short by sheer bad luck.[break]
[break]
Keith grew up in the town of Rose Hill, Iowa - a city of about two hundred people, give or take. The only son of the family - a Methodist pastor for a father and a textiles shop owner for a mother - Keith grew up in a kind, loving household wanting for basically nothing. Much like his parents, Keith was all set to become a pillar of the community, even as he grew from a child to a teenager. The citizens of Rose Hill near-universally adored him; even the cynics unfond of him admitted that he was a good person. Children in particular enjoyed Keith, as he would go "the extra mile" to arrange activities for them to do.[break]
[break]
Until the day it all came crashing down.[break]
[break]
One day, Keith was approached by a new resident of town who wanted to help him out; evidently, he was impressed by Keith's ethic and wanted to do his part as well. However, Keith had to keep the entire thing a secret, especially from parents and authority figures. What should've been the red flag zoomed right past Keith's head; he agreed to the task without hesitation.[break]
[break]
Keith gathered eleven young ones in the park, aged seven to eleven, and told them it was time for a super surprise party. Their parents all trusted Keith and knew he was safe, leading them to turn a blind eye to the upcoming tragedy. When he took the children back, the man was estatic, even going to so far as to pay Keith for his services. Why the man had to lead Keith into another room to pay him away from the children was questionable, but Keith thought nothing of it at the time.[break]
[break]
Two hours passed, and Keith thought to check on the children. Returning to the house where he had dropped them off, Keith was shocked to see several police officers and a SWAT van in the vicinity; crime in a town of two hundred people was unthinkable, something one saw on the news. Keith stared, jaw slack, as officers poured in and out of the building. Only one child of the eleven taken in came out of the home that day... as well as the man who had paid him. That man saw Keith from across the street and immediately pointed him out, accusing him of being the one who sold him the children; he even still had the money on him![break]
[break]
In the course of one day, the community of Rose Hill had been turned on its head. There was a litany of evidence against Keith being the one to sell the children to the man - part of a group of human traffickers that had gotten too complacent - in the precinct; the man's testimony aside, there was also the child's testimony as well as the money Keith had been given. Any semblance of trust Keith had within the community evaporated overnight, and the citizens at large quickly believed him to be a real accomplice. Even his parents believed what they saw, which is what led to the decision to ship Keith off to the Japanese "alternative" school, in the hopes that normalcy would come back to the town.[break]
[break]
Due to a single trap and the sheer bad luck it took to be caught within it, Keith's entire image fell to pieces in his sleepy Iowa home.[break]
[break]
It's been a year since that day. The ten missing children haven't been found, and zero progress has been made on clearing Keith's name. Inwardly, Keith has become paralysed with indecision - if he gets close to people, there is a very real possibility that something like the children would happen again. His heart has not changed and his position has not wavered - it is merely crippled, is all. Given that he is trapped in a school of dangerous criminals
