[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
The Griffin family had always been rather wealthy. The current head of the household, Daniel Griffin, also runs a factory that produces materials for buildings, electronics, and other things. Axel grew up as an only child to Daniel and Elizabeth Griffin in Manchester. Axel’s father was always strict, forcing Axel to act properly like a “normal, well behaved boy”. Axel never wore anything less formal than a sweater vest until he was fourteen. His father also forced him to learn French and Spanish as he believed both would be important for when he inherited the family business. Axel decided on his own he would learn Japanese, simply because he wanted to.[break]
[break]
As a child, rather than retaliating against his parents strict rules, he went along with it. His mindset was simply that it didn’t matter what he did and didn’t do. If he had something to gain, he was going to do something and if there was something to lose, he wouldn’t do it. So for the most part, he was well behaved. Until he overheard a group of kids when he was thirteen, in the private school he was in, bragging about how they stole things. Axel was intrigued by the idea of breaking the rules for once so he listened to their conversation. When it seemed like they did these small things and didn’t get in trouble and, in essence, got free stuff Axel decided he would steal something the next time he went out.[break]
[break]
He managed to convince his father to let him take a walk one day and went to a convenience store. Axel’s parents usually didn’t let him have sweets, so he decided to take a chocolate bar. It wasn’t much, but as he was walking towards the door with the chocolate bar in his pocket, his heart was racing. He did his best to look calm as he walked out the door, holding his breath as he did so. When the nothing happened as he started walking away from the store, he did his best not to start laughing until he was a good distance away. He reached into his pocket and took out his prize, immediately opening and eating it, savoring the taste. He thought, if this was what stealing was like then he’d be doing it a lot more.[break]
[break]
As the years went on, Axel began stealing more and more things. At first it was just from other kids at school and he would sit off to the side, amused when the children blamed everyone but him for stealing their precious pencil cases and erasers. As the years went on, he began shoplifting a bit more, going for simple things. He ended up meeting some shady characters at his school who were a part of a gang and were able to sell things that he stole. So, he began to learn how to break into people’s houses to steal valuable items such as jewelry. His first job he got some help, having it go off without a hitch. The next job, one of his partners got caught and he left him behind without a second caught, simply stating to the others that it was more money for them.[break]
[break]
When Axel was sixteen, he was approached by a group of guys after school who wanted to know if he was up for a pretty risky job. They would be going into a mansion, stealing a valuable gem the family there left up on display, and selling it later. Axel actually knew the family that lived there, but didn’t really care as it was a chance to steal, which was something he would never pass up. He went with them about a few weeks later to steal the gem, Axel and another guy actually going in the mansion to get it. Axel was the one who got the gem, but as they were leaving, they tripped a wire. The guys he was with took the gem and left him behind as their scapegoat. When Axel was taken in by the police, he was questioned as soon as they got to the station. He was told that if he didn’t co-operate that he’d be sent to prison, even though he was a minor still. While Axel wasn’t entirely sure if this was true or not, he didn’t care and told them everything that happened. Because he confessed so easily, the police gave his father the choice of keeping him on what might as well have been house arrest or sending him to the Kessho Reform Academy in Japan. His father chose the latter, hoping that this “stealing habit” Axel had would be drilled out of him so he could eventually take over the business.[break]
[break]
Axel personally didn’t care about being sent to a reform school. All he saw was a new place to steal new things. He didn’t care about getting revenge on the guys who set him up, as he knew they were likely going to be screwed when they tried to sell the gem. He had known from the very beginning. Axel had never cared about the money. All he wanted to do was steal, and he wasn’t going to let some school change that.[break]
