Twenty-five years after the initial spread of the pandemic Cordyceps Brain Infection (CBI), the remaining 40% of survivors have done what they can to survive. Many survivors live in quarantine zones, though pockets of survivors have settled in abandoned buildings to make a new home for themselves. Supplies are constantly in demand and, as such, have created factions among the survivors: the Fireflies, a militia group dedicated to finding a cure; the Hunters, known for their brutality, who want nothing more than to keep their territories free from outsiders; Gardeners, a self-reliant community who grow and raise a majority of food; and the Willows, an all-female group of survivors who wish to take down the Fireflies.



Based on the online multiplayer game The Last of Us: Factions, TOWARD THE LIGHT centers on the destroyed city of San Francisco. The roleplay will focus on the daily lives and struggles of the survivors.
