| The thrill seeker let out a lazy sigh as he sat on the roof of his dormitory, legs dangling over the side as he watched the students far below. No matter what happened, it always felt good to get away from it all. Even when things seemed like they were going perfectly it was nice to take a step back and look at everything you had. Then there were times like this where everything seemed like a steaming pile of shit and you had to take a step back just to catch a breath. Shelby wasn't quite sure what he expected when he came to Kessho, but this place was plain weird.
Everything was so different from what he was used to, which in most cases was for the worst. He was lucky enough to avoid butting heads with any of the real dangerous people thus far, but he knew it was only a matter of time before he pissed off the wrong guy. And oddly enough, he was kinda looking forward to it. At least having someone to run from or avoid could prove to be interesting. Security was so tight he couldn't get into any real trouble, at least not like he used to back home. If he could just get his hands on a pair of modified hover skates and a nice variety of spray paints he could have some real fun.
An untied shoe balanced on the tip of his toes, leg swinging back and forth slowly as he watched it with a careful eye. The leg suddenly straightened, kicking the shoe up in the air and back toward the teen, a hand quickly moving to snatch it out of the air. The simple trick never failed to bring at least a small smile to his otherwise bored features. It wasn't much of a thrill, but it was better than sitting around his room poking at his terminal. Besides, if he didn't keep practicing he would lose this nifty little talent.
The sneaker was softly lobbed back toward his foot, leg and toes stretching out to catch it. Eyes went wide as the sneaker barely glided over it's mark and plummeted down toward the ground. "Aw shit." Teeth clenched in anticipation as he looked at the students below, entering and exiting the building without a care. Hands cupped around his mouth as he leaned forward and shouted down to the unaware students, who either didn't notice him or simply didn't care to pay him any mind. "Head's up!" With any luck his shoe would find it's way to a kind soul and not some psycho who would start trying to eat it or something. Or maybe it would smack somebody straight in the face. That'd be pretty funny. A drop from this high wouldn't cause any serious harm, right?

Samantha paced restlessly through the school, hands balled by her sides. She looked strange, even among most of the delinquents and troublemakers, why? Because she was rather small, but looked like she'd fight over anything..and fighting was what she wanted to do. She was looking for trouble, plain and simple. She couldn't stand being caged like this and a fight happened every day here, one little tussle wasn't going to alert anybody! And trouble she found. She heard the screamed warning a little too late, trying to draw her face away from the incoming impact of whatever was flying toward her. It smacked against her temple, prompting a shouted curse from the aggressive girl. Something felt like it snapped in her mind, along with an odd sense of relief, here was an excuse to beat something up. She snatched up the shoe, rubbing her head with a free hand. She squinted upward, eyes settling on some boy sitting on the roof, " You got two seconds to live, bastard, use them wisely!" She spat upward, " What the hell was that for!?" Shelby Cooper

| The elevated student squinted down as the shoe plummeted to the ground, it's trajectory becoming more clear as it fell. It looked like it was headed straight for...that girl. A pretty cute girl at that, from what he could tell. It was a shame, really. He would feel bad if he accidentally hurt the poor thing. Thiis allwould have been much simpler if it was just another guy. Eyes closed tightly as the shoe collided with Samantha's head, wincing with sympathy. Still, maybe this could be a good introduction. He could go down there to apologize and take her to the food court to make up for it. Then he would sweep her off her feet with his unparalleled charm and wit. It was the perfect plan.
Fantasies were interrupted by the crude shouting from below, brows furrowing in confusion as he looked back toward the ground. Was that little thing the one saying those things to him? He should have known he wasn't going to find some cute little sweetheart in this school. "Sorry! It was an accident!" His first instinct was to joke about how she wouldn't be able to make it up there in two seconds, but he would rather try to smooth things out with this one. Maybe, just maybe, there was a nice girl hidden behind that angry face. "Listen just uh...Sit tight and I'll be right down! And hang on to that sneaker!"
It was going to take a bit for him to get down there, but it should be a bit faster if he sprinted down the stairs. Carefully, of course. Shelby sprung to his feet and ran to the fire escape he used to access the roof in the first place and back into the building. He ran down the stairs as quickly as he could without tumbling to his death. He bumped shoulders with a couple passing students, but he came and went before they realized what was even happening. After a wait the speedy vandal came sprinting out the front door of the building, hands resting on his knees as he tried to catch his breath."Thanks. For. Waiting." With any luck the wait gave her some time to simmer down and understand it was an accident. Or she just got herself pumped up for a fight and he just delivered himself on a silver platter Whoops.

Samantha opened her mouth to yell a reply back into the sky as the guy had the audacity to say it was an accident. Bullshit! Regardless, there was nothing she could do but wait for the guy to arrive, staring down at the shoe disbelievingly. She was really holding onto it? Really? As soon as he arrived, panting pitifully, she threw the shoe at him, way harder than she should have...right for his face. Whether or not it hit is target, she continued on, " That was for dropping the damn thing!" She grumbled, snapping her knuckles back, " I got worse if you don't have a really good explanation!" | Before he even had a chance to stop and catch his breath Shelby found himself coming face to face with his own sneaker, the impact causing him to stumble a few steps back. Both hands intellectually moved to cover his face, the pain from the blow showing plainly in his eyes. "Aw COME ON!" He pulled his hands away from his face, taking a moment to check his palms for signs of bleeding. Sure enough there were drops of blood lightly splattered on his palm, the warm feeling on his upper lip informing confirming his bloody nose. Face contorted slightly as he scrunched his nose, squatting down to pick his sneaker up off the ground. "Alright. I deserved that one." Hopefully that little burst of anger was enough to get it out of her system.
As he stood up straight he approached her once more, taking a deep breath and putting on an uneasy smile. "Like I said, it was an accident. I was just sitting on the roof playing with my shoe and...Look I know it sounds childish but I'm serious! I was bored and stuff, you know?" A hand moved to flip open the end of his jacket's sleeve, using the inside of the fabric to wipe up some of the blood on his face. "Look, let me make it up to you. I've got some CASH. Maybe we could get something to eat? Talk this out real civil like?" She may have been a little on the pissy side, but it was worth a shot. Maybe she was the type who just needed a good man to help bring out her inner princess. It happened all the time in the movies.

Samantha smiled wickedly as her thrown shoe collided with the guy's face, chuckling under her breath as her eyes fell on the scarlet drops, she was getting stronger and stronger. Her anger briefly flickered in the face of the most idiotic excuse she ever heard, her face reflecting this as it shifted into a frown of confusion, " You kidding me?" She growled, somehow knowing that no, he wasn't, it was just ridiculous enough to believe. She quickly found she couldn't summon much more anger after that, pressing her palm to her forehead as she let out a long-suffering sigh, " Fine. Fine. I'm gonna drain that CASH of yours, capice?" Where ever he had in mind, she'd follow rather willingly, just far enough to make sure nobody thought they were friends, but close enough to signal her eagerness for something to eat, as her allowance wasn't the highest. | She may have accepted his excuse, but her attitude didn't seem to change as he initially hoped. So much for a pleasant meal. Still, he was a man of his word and she was going to get what was promised to her. "Well aren't you a charmer." Though he probably would have been better off with the smart remarks.
A hand moved to run through his messy blue hair, glancing over his shoulder back to the dorm entrance. Lips pressed into a flat line as he inwardly wept for his poor CASH, fully believing this girl's readiness to bleed him dry. "So uh... Food. Guess our best but would be the dining hall. C'mon." With a quick look toward Samantha to confirm she would follow, he started to make his way to the dining hall attatched to the dorm with his sneaker still in hand.
Lucky for him this dining hall was one of the cheap ones, filled with what could be equated to fast food. But it was all you can eat so hopefully he wouldn't get any complaints out of her. "Yeah, this'll do. Great food here." Ok that was a lie. At this point he probably would have said anything to get her through that door. "But I would avoid the fish tacos. Never eat seafood from underneath a heat lamp." That was a lesson he learned the hard way on his first day here. Big mistake.

Samantha snorted at the guys comment, " Just about as much as you are." Who needed charming anyhow? She got through life pretty well without it! She stared with an unidentifiable expression at the choice he had made, fast food huh? Inwardly, she was actually quite happy with this situation right here and thus, chuckled a bit at the fish tacos bit, " Yup, I know, wouldn't have survived my first year if I didn't figure that out fast." She hustled right over to one row of the buffet, grabbing a hamburger and hotdog before following it up with French fries and a soda, and she intended to come back for more. She took a seat, leaning on her palm as she waited for him to make his choice, if any. Shelby Cooper

| So she had already been around for a year? That certainly explained a lot. She probably abandoned her natural charms and grace to survive this place. It was sad to think that this place could have such an effect on people, frowning slightly as he watched her make her way to the food. He really should give her more of a chance. Maybe if he tried to be nice he could bring out some of those old positive traits.
Shelby pressed his thumb against the terminal, accepting the charge for two. It was a bit pricey, but he made enough CASH racing his fellow new students that it wasn't going to be too much of an issue. After taking a moment to put his shoe back on nice and tight he followed behind her, getting a couple scoops of 'chicken nuggets' and a couple pumps of horseradish on the side. It wasn't as much, but he wasn't too hungry to begin with. But it would have been weird for him to try to talk to her without having something to eat himself.
He set his plate down on the table and sat down across from her, giving her a warm smile as he picked up one of his nuggets. "So you've been here for a bit, have you? I'll admit this is my first year." It wasn't something he usually liked to bring to other people's attention, but maybe if he shows his guard is down she'll drop hers as well. "Can you believe it? We haven't even introduced ourselves yet." Free hand reached across the table, held out for a handshake. "Shelby Cooper. Vandalism and evading arrest." A pretty mild crime compared to a lot of the people here, but he wasn't ashamed of it. It wasn't like he had any reason to be afraid. Yet.

Samantha tilted her head as the guy admitted this was his first year, " Huh...better quit with that shoe shit, you're gonna be eaten alive if you hit someone worse than me." She kept it empty on who would be worse than her, but there was plenty implied if there were people worse than her here. She took the offered handshake cautiously, giving a very brief squeeze before snatching her hand back as if burned, " Samantha Lobo." She suddenly started counting her fingers, " Four Assaults, one on a teacher and counting in here." Immediately, she lunged into the food, only raising her head for a few words, " Welcome to hell Shelby." Shelby Cooper

| She was probably right, but that didn't mean he was going to listen. The fact that it was dangerous was one of his primary motivators. When you're always being watched by the ever present security you had to get by with whatever simple thrills you could get. He simply laughed and shrugged off her comment, dipping a nugget into the puddle of horseradish. "I'll keep that in mind." Next time he hit someone who responded like that he'll probably just give up on getting his shoe back and make a break for it.
Brows rose as she introduced herself, giving her hand a brief shake before it was quickly snatched away. This one clearly had problems socializing. He had to wonder what happened to her during that first year that would make her behave this way. Going so far as to call this place hell? That seemed just a little bit extreme. Not that he had to experience to disagree. "Four assaults huh? Guess I'm getting off easy." He gave her a joking grin before popping the nugget into his mouth. Her method of eating was startling, like an animal trying to scarf down a carcass before another predator came along. "Slow down there Sammy! No need to rush." If she kept up a pace like that there would hardly be any time for them to chat.
