Shelby was born and raised in luxury, which is something that a lot of students will pick up on quite quickly. He's not used to having to work for things, and not having immediate access to whatever his fit his desires is a new experience for him. While he's not quite a spoiled brat, he has quite a ways to go to adapt to life at the academy. In fact most things at Kessho are new to him, from the strict rules to the constant threat of violence. Back home breaking rules never lead to anything but a slap on the wrist, and the bullies never really seemed to bother him. Going from that to a harsh environment where no one cares who his daddy is obviously would make for a jarring experience.[break][break]
It's likely he would quickly build at least a familiarity with most of the students and faculty. No matter who or where they are, Shelby is always ready and willing to strike up a random conversation. Making friends is a top priority for him, even if things don't always work out the way he plans. Simply put, if you don't have any ideas for a plot you can just say you want them to meet up and he will find a way to talk to your character. He has a habit of ending up in odd locations, so there's just about no reason for him to be wherever is most convenient for you.

Shelby hopes to walk away from every new encounter with a new friend. Be it an acquaintance who nearly tolerates him or the perfect pal, he holds all of his friends in high esteem. His methods to achieve this can be strange or drastic at times, sometimes uncomfortably so. But if he's willing to go to such lengths to get a friend, one can imagine what he'll do to keep a friend. A friend in need is his bat signal, and he will drop whatever he's doing to rush to that friend's aid. Unfortunately for him this is easily taken advantage of. So long as someone is willing to put up with him, it's shockingly easy to get Shelby to do whatever you want. He may not be an idiot, but he's not likely to second guess a friend unless they make a particularly ridiculous request. Depending on the situation he may even find himself forgiving them in the end.[break][break]
As previously stated, anyone willing to put up with him is a friend in his book. He's up for anything so long as good company is involved, from a leisurely trip to the park to a knock down drag out brawl. Though he may end up running away in the end and begging for forgiveness later. He's pretty tolerant of people, so it's mostly up to the other person if a friendship is formed. Though there are always exceptions to these rules...

In a place like this enemies are sure to be plentiful. His outgoing and chatty nature is sure to rub some of the more serious minded students and faculty the wrong way. Many brawlers are also likely to view him as a coward, as he is more likely to run away from a fight than stand his ground and fight. On top of that he fancies himself as quite the prankster, pulling any harmless little trick he can for kicks. As much as it hurts him to have people thing negatively of him, he'll never allow himself to change for someone else. Unless someone seriously wrongs himself or one of his friends he is likely to at least try to get on the good side of those who clearly dislike him.[break][break]
There are plenty of possibilities as far as enemies and rivals go. He's from a rich family, which many less fortunate students are likely to resent.[break][break]
He's a prankster surrounded by people who will snap at a moment's notice. [break]
He enjoys doing things that he knows he shouldn't, including showing up places he's not supposed to be. [break]
He usually doesn't check if a girl has a boyfriend before he starts to flirt. [break]
He's an annoying guy to fight and will usually run away without giving the opponent the satisfaction of punching his face in.[break]
He talks too much.[break]
He likes bad jokes and puns.[break]
He occasionally refers to himself as 'Edge'.[break][break]
There's just as many (if not more) reasons to hate him as there are to love him. Seriously, just take your pick.

As a heterosexual teenager, Shelby obviously has an eye for the ladies. And being such a cocky son of a gun he doesn't put much effort into hiding that fact. If he finds himself interested in a girl for one reason or another he won't hesitate to make his intentions clear. This usually manifests in the form of harmless flirting, probably with a few jokes mixed in in an effort to get a positive reaction from the target. Rejection is imminent and he's prepared for that. No matter how hard he gets smacked down he will always bounce right back, either aiming to take another shot or accepting a place in the friendzone. Either way there probably won't be any hard feelings in the end.[break][break]
A serious relationship is a possibility if he finds someone he meshes well with. The problem is that his tastes are...varied. From the shy freshman to the saucy teacher, nothing is off limits to him. An actual girlfriend would be in a weird place between a lover and a best friend. One day he'll do some sort of sappy grand gesture, the next he'll be treating her like one of the guys. He's an odd duck, so any girl would have to be willing to deal with both sides of the coin. In return for this they get a fiercely loyal and protective man that will go to stupid lengths to make sure she stays happy and healthy. Very stupid lengths. But that can be charming, right?
